In a significant move for the electric vehicle (EV) charging industry, Blink Charging, a global leader in EV charging equipment and services, has announced its acquisition of Zemetric, a Silicon Valley-based company known for its customized charging infrastructure solutions. The acquisition, supported by Brightsmith Group, a search firm focused on energy transition, is expected to close on or before July 11, 2025, subject to standard conditions.

The strategic rationale behind this acquisition is multifaceted. For Blink Charging, it presents an opportunity to expand its product portfolio by incorporating Zemetric's interoperable Level 2 (L2) charging solutions, which are particularly suited for fleet and multi-family housing markets. This move fills a gap in Blink's offerings, allowing it to capitalize on underpenetrated segments of the EV charging ecosystem.

Moreover, the acquisition enhances Blink's vertical integration capabilities, enabling it to control more aspects of its supply chain and operational structure, potentially improving efficiency and reducing reliance on external suppliers. The acquisition also aligns with federal funding priorities, such as the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program, which supports the development of EV charging infrastructure. This positioning can help Blink Charging secure funding and projects under these initiatives.

In addition, Zemetric's innovative, scalable solutions for high-utilization EV charging and intelligent energy management will bolster Blink's technical capabilities, enabling it to offer more comprehensive charging solutions to fleets and commercial customers. The acquisition is expected to drive growth for Blink Charging by expanding its market reach and offerings in the EV charging sector, positioning Blink as a more competitive player in the rapidly evolving EV infrastructure market.

For Zemetric, the acquisition offers the opportunity to leverage Blink's resources and scale to further innovate and grow within the EV charging market. As part of the acquisition, Zemetric's founding team will join Blink. Harmeet Singh, the Founder & CEO of Zemetric, will become the Chief Technology Officer, Bonnie Datta will serve as Senior Vice President of Global Commercial Operations, and Kapil Singhi will lead global charger development.

Mike Battaglia, President and Chief Executive Officer of Blink Charging, stated, "Zemetric is a future-ready organization with innovative tech solutions in high-utilization EV charging and intelligent energy management. We are excited to welcome them to our team as we steer towards profitability and continue building a smarter, more connected charging ecosystem."

Harmeet Singh expressed his excitement about writing the next chapter with the electrification-first team at Blink, stating that they have focused on making the transition from internal combustion engines (ICE) to electric vehicles (EV) easy for their customers. He mentioned, "We are particularly excited about adding Zemetric's intelligent and flexible L2 product to Blink's lineup."

This acquisition is significant for the EV charging industry, as it combines Blink's extensive network with Zemetric's customized solutions, marking a strategic move for both companies as they aim to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles.

Technology plays a significant role in this acquisition, as Zemetric's innovative, scalable solutions for high-utilization EV charging and intelligent energy management will bolster Blink's technical capabilities.

The acquisition is expected to drive growth for Blink Charging by offering more comprehensive charging solutions to fleets and commercial customers, thanks to the integration of Zemetric's technology.
