Winter Marks Start of Initial Phase for North Sea-Baltic Canal Construction
The North Sea-Baltic Canal Construction and Maintenance Office (WNA) has revealed that the first four kilometers of the 15-kilometer canal will begin construction this winter, using wet excavation methods. The project's initial phase aims to complete the operating path and new slope above the shore area by early 2024.
Over 150,000 tons of stones, sourced from Norway, have been transported for the formation of the water exchange zone from Kiel to Schinkel, as per project leader Georg Lindner's statement.
