Aerospace Experts Discuss Enterprise Digital Twin Revolution at Paris Air Show

A panel of experts from Dassault Systèmes, Georgia Tech Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory, and Capgemini Engineering gathered at the 2025 Paris Air Show to discuss the 'Enterprise Digital Twin Revolution'. They explored how these virtual replicas can transform aerospace and defense manufacturing.

The panel highlighted challenges in modern manufacturing, such as lack of supply chain visibility and slow response to sudden demand shifts. They stressed the need for digital continuity and better integration of capabilities across the product lifecycle to address these issues.

Enterprise digital twins, virtual replicas of entire organizations, provide total visibility and detailed insights. They can be strategic assets, enabling process improvements and operational transformations. However, successful implementation requires empowering the workforce through digital literacy, training, and collaborative work methods. System integrators play a crucial role in bridging the gap between potential and reality.

Emerging tools like augmented reality and computer vision can enhance workforce adoption of digital twins. Key actors in developing and spreading the concept include engineering and technology companies like Expleo, DeepTech startups such as experial, and major aerospace corporations like GE Aerospace. Investments come from corporate venture capitals and defense-focused investors.

The panel agreed that while challenges remain, such as integrating complex digital twins over the entire aircraft lifecycle and ensuring data security, the potential of enterprise digital twins is immense. With the right strategies and collaborations, they can revolutionize aerospace and defense manufacturing, providing total visibility and enabling process improvements.
