Airbus Appoints Jürgen Westermeier as President and Managing Director for India and South Asia

Airbus, the global leader in aerospace, has appointed Jürgen Westermeier as the President and Managing Director (MD) for India and South Asia, effective September 1, 2025. Jürgen Westermeier succeeds Remi Maillard, who is moving to a global leadership role at Airbus.

In this new role, Westermeier will spearhead Airbus's business in India and South Asia, covering Commercial Aircraft, Defence and Space, and Helicopters. He will be responsible for driving commercial aircraft sales in the region and expanding Airbus’s footprint in services, engineering, digital, innovation, and training.

Westermeier's appointment marks a strategic leadership effort by Airbus to strengthen its presence and business operations in a key market region with growing aviation and aerospace demands.

Before joining Airbus, Westermeier started his career at BMW in 1998. He held strategic positions across Information Services, Motorcycles Purchasing, Quality Management, Supplier Network, and Cost Engineering at BMW. Westermeier joined Airbus as Chief Procurement Officer in 2020 and has since been serving as the Executive Vice-President and Chief Procurement Officer.

One of Westermeier's key tasks will be to support and advance Airbus’s commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative. He will align company campaigns with this vision to promote local manufacturing and innovation.

Westermeier holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. Airbus has appointed him as the President and Managing Director for India and South Asia, effective September 1, 2025.

With this appointment, Westermeier will succeed Rémi Maillard who will become Executive Vice-President Engineering for Commercial Aircraft and Head of Technology at Airbus.
