Alaska Airlines Kicks Off International Expansion With Seattle-Reykjavik Route

Alaska Airlines is set to expand its international reach with the launch of 12 new long-haul routes over the next four years. The first of these, a non-stop service between Seattle and Reykjavik, commences on May 28, 2026.

The new route, spanning 3,622 miles, will be operated by a single-aisle Boeing 737 MAX 8, offering free in-flight Wi-Fi to all passengers. This will be the longest Boeing 737 flight of any US carrier. The outbound journey will take approximately seven hours and 25 minutes, with the return flight blocked at seven hours and 55 minutes. The service will operate as a summer seasonal route, with a capacity for 159 passengers per flight.

The airline is also refreshing its First Class dining experience for these flights. Additionally, Alaska Airlines is changing the tailfin design of its Dreamliner aircraft, replacing the Eskimo character with a color scheme inspired by the Northern Lights.
