Announcing the Yearly Privacy and AI Leadership Honors on Our Site

In a recent ceremony, the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF), a global non-profit organisation focused on data protection, AI, and emerging technologies, recognised pioneers in the intersection of data protection and artificial intelligence. Among the awardees was Barbara Cosgrove, Vice President, Chief Privacy and Digital Trust Officer at Workday, who received the Career Achievement Award.

Barbara Cosgrove has been instrumental in establishing Workday's privacy fundamentals, championing the company's global data privacy strategy, and fostering a culture of data protection. She also played a key role in the development of Workday's initial AI governance program and served as the company's chief security officer. In addition to her work at Workday, Cosgrove is a member of FPF's AI Leadership Council and Advisory Board, and she is Vice-Chair of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Meanwhile, the Global Responsible AI Leadership Award was given to Brazil's National Data Protection Authority (ANPD). The award recognises ANPD's comprehensive and forward-thinking approach to governing AI responsibly. ANPD's initiatives include the Sandbox for AI and influential work in developing thoughtful frameworks around generative AI. Miriam Wimmer accepted the award on behalf of ANPD.

In a separate announcement, Melissa Maalouff, FPF's Director of Policy and Programme, announced a new internship, the Hannah Schaller Memorial Internship by ZwillGen, at FPF's D.C. office. The internship honours the life and legacy of Hannah Schaller, a former FPF policy intern and ZwillGen privacy attorney who passed away earlier in 2025.

The Hannah Schaller Memorial Internship is designed to give students hands-on experience working with FPF’s policy staff, reflecting Hannah’s dedication to supporting and guiding others entering the field. The program is seen as a tribute to Hannah’s lasting impact and a way to inspire the next generation of privacy professionals, ensuring her dedication to ethical advancement and mentorship endures.

In addition to the internship, ZwillGen has created a post-graduate fellowship in Hannah's honour. The initiative continues her commitment to mentorship and development, celebrates her professional impact, fosters community and leadership, and advances privacy policy and innovation.

Jules Polonetsky, CEO of the FPF, stated that the awardees have demonstrated thoughtful leadership, bold vision, and creative thinking essential to advancing the responsible use of data. The FPF's mission aligns with these values, and the organisation continues to strive for responsible innovation in the field of data protection and AI.
