Worldline Unveils AI-Powered Routing Solution for Global Payments
Worldline, a trusted innovator in the global payments industry, has launched an AI-powered routing solution that is set to transform the way businesses route payments. The new solution aims to enhance authorisation rates, unlock new revenue for customers, and position Worldline as a leader in the industry.
The AI-powered routing feature makes smarter decisions to select the most favourable acquirers, increasing conversion rates. By analysing transaction data and real-time factors like transaction value, merchant category, customer location, and time of day, the system can dynamically route payments to the most likely approving acquirer, reducing payment failures and lost sales.
One of the key benefits of Worldline's AI-powered routing solution is its ability to boost authorisation rates. In successful pilot tests, the solution has demonstrated over a 2% improvement in authorisation rates on top of an existing 3% uplift from rule-based routing, resulting in a combined authorisation increase of around 5%. This has led to a significant €1.63M revenue boost for one customer using the existing rules-based solution.
The solution also offers a unique dual-layered routing strategy, combining the reliability of rule-based routing with an adaptive AI system. This hybrid approach addresses changing transaction conditions and different merchant needs, ensuring optimal payment routing at all times.

The AI-powered service is usable from multiple touchpoints, supporting both online and in-store transactions. It also complements existing orchestration platforms at the Payment Service Provider (PSP) layer, optimising transactions post-PSP selection.
