AST SpaceMobile's BlueBird 6 Satellite Ready for Launch, Set to Revolutionize LEO
AST SpaceMobile's BlueBird 6 satellite, codenamed FM1, has successfully completed assembly and testing, gearing up for its maiden flight. This marks a significant step towards AST's goal of deploying a constellation of 45-60 satellites by the end of 2026.
BlueBird 6 is set to revolutionize low Earth orbit (LEO) with its massive 2,400 sq ft phased array, enabling true direct-to-cell broadband. The satellite, which will be the largest commercial satellite ever deployed in LEO, is scheduled to ship to India on October 12th aboard a giant Antonov cargo aircraft. Its launch date is expected before Christmas.
AST is not only advancing with its hardware but also with its partnerships. The company has joined forces with over 50 mobile network operators, serving nearly 3 billion subscribers. This strategic move positions AST to provide global cellular broadband connectivity once the BlueBird constellation is fully operational.
AST's production line is humming with activity. The company is on track to complete 40 phased arrays by early 2026, which will bring the total BlueBird count to 46. The launch schedule is equally ambitious, with plans to send BlueBirds 8-16 into orbit every 1-2 months on average during 2025 and 2026.
Barclays Bank has taken note of AST's progress, upgrading its share price target from $37 to $60 and advising clients to consider the stock as 'overweight'. As BlueBird 6 prepares for launch and the production pipeline continues to fill, AST is poised to transform the global cellular landscape, bringing broadband connectivity to every corner of the planet.
