Geely Auto and Zeekr Unveil Plans for Hybrid Expansion

Geely Auto, the Chinese automaker behind brands like Geely and Lynk & Co, and its electric vehicle spin-off Zeekr, have announced ambitious plans to expand their new energy vehicle lineup. The announcements were made by Geely Auto's CEO, Gan Jiayue, at the 2025 mid-year business conference.

In the first half of the year, Geely Auto sold a total of 1,409,180 vehicles, marking a significant 47 percent year-on-year increase. The company's electric vehicle sales soared even higher, with 510,803 pure electric vehicles sold, representing a staggering 173 percent year-on-year growth. PHEV models accounted for 214,348 units, up 61 percent year-on-year.

Geely Auto aims to maintain this momentum by launching five new hybrid models in the second half of the year. These models include the Zeekr 9X SUV, Lynk & Co's Lynk 10 EM-P sedan, Geely Galaxy A7 sedan, and Geely Galaxy M9 SUV. It is possible that the Zeekr 8X SUV is also among the new models, although this has not been explicitly confirmed.

The Geely Galaxy M9 SUV, priced around $34,830 in China, is positioned as a flagship for the Geely Galaxy brand. It will compete with premium models like the Li Auto L9 and reinforce the Geely Galaxy brand's strength in the plug-in hybrid segment.

Meanwhile, Lynk & Co, another brand under Geely Auto, sold 154,137 vehicles in the first half of the year, up 22 percent year-on-year. One of its new offerings is the Lynk 10 EM-P sedan, another addition to its electric vehicle lineup.

Geely Auto has set a new sales target for the year. The company aims to sell 3 million vehicles this year, with the Geely brand alone targeting 1,590,820 vehicles in the second half of the year, averaging 265,137 vehicles per month. This is an 11 percent increase from its initial full-year sales target of 2.71 million.

On July 1, Geely Auto raised its full-year sales target from 2.71 million to 3 million, reflecting the company's confidence in its growth potential. With these new hybrid models set to launch, Geely Auto and Zeekr are poised to continue their strong growth in the second half of the year.
