Brunswick's Climate Journey Culminates: Co-Adapted Project Presents Municipal Strategy

Join us on September 10 for a pivotal event in Brunswick's climate journey. The 'Co-Adapted Brunswick' project, funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, culminates in presenting a municipal climate adaptation strategy and successful neighborhood initiatives.

The project began with a call for co-creative ideas on climate change adaptation. Selected pilot projects have demonstrated successful implementation, showcasing the potential for collaboration between research and practice. Key partners include the City of Brunswick, ISU - Institute for Sustainable Urbanism, and the Institute of Geoscience at TU Brunswick.

The event will delve into a comprehensive climate risk analysis, highlighting the tailored measures developed to tackle impacts like heat, drought, and heavy rain. Attendees can expect to see the fruits of labor from various city districts. Notably, the ISU used the Möhlkamp residential street as an example to illustrate the potential of combining street space transformation with climate-adaptive measures.

Looking ahead, future projects such as the Urban Climate Future Lab and UMEX Hope will be presented, ensuring continued cooperation on climate adaptation.

The 'Co-Adapted Brunswick' project has been a significant step in developing a robust municipal climate adaptation strategy. With guest speakers Dr. Enke Frank, President of TU Brunswick, and Anna Katharina Hanusch, Deputy Mayor of Brunswick, the event promises insightful discussions and a roadmap for a more climate-resilient Brunswick.
