Changing brand strategies through alterations in reels, threads, and "value principles"

In a significant move, Meta is expanding the advertising platform on its popular app, Threads, as part of Mark Zuckerberg's strategy to build advertiser trust in AI. This expansion comes with a host of new features and formats, aiming to make advertising more effective and culturally relevant.

One of the key innovations is the introduction of Reels Trending Ads. These AI-supported ad placements appear alongside trendy Reels content, offering brands the opportunity to appear culturally relevant and reduce content production effort. Initial tests by Meta show that Reels Trending Ads generate 20% more organic attention than traditional campaigns, and in some cases, outperform TikTok Pulse, a comparable offering from a competitor, according to initial tests by "Social Media Today".

Brands will no longer need to operate their own Threads profile to run ads; existing Instagram or Facebook posts can be extended to Threads via the Ads Manager. An integrated strategy using existing content from Instagram and Facebook for Threads and Reels Trending Ads is recommended for reach and cultural relevance.

Campaigns with Meta's Value Rules result in twice as many high-quality conversions compared to standard campaigns, indicating a higher performance that is likely to come with increasing prices. Brands are advised to test new formats early, adapt creative content, and define "valuable target groups".

However, the transparency of attribution could be a challenge with AI-driven campaigns. Meta is lifting the possibility of detailed targeting exclusion for AI efficiency, which could lead to some questions about costs, brand safety, and measurability.

New formats such as 4:5 renderings for single-image and video ads, as well as carousel ads, are being introduced on Threads. Meta is also testing Advantage+ catalog ads and app ad campaigns on the Threads platform.

While the search results do not explicitly list the names of the brands that were among the first to use Reels Trending Ads on Meta platforms, the innovations offer opportunities for brands to appear culturally relevant and reduce content production effort. The Reels Trending Ads feature is now available to all advertisers.

As Meta continues to innovate and evolve its advertising offerings, brands must adapt and test new formats to stay competitive and reach their target audiences effectively. The shift towards AI-driven campaigns presents both challenges and opportunities, and it is essential for brands to develop clear definitions of "valuable target groups" and test new formats early to maximise their potential.
