ChatGPT Upgrade Alert: Insights into the Latest Iteration of ChatGPT

In an exciting development, OpenAI has unveiled its latest language model, GPT-5, which is making waves in the AI community. The news originally appeared in WIRED US.

One of the key improvements in GPT-5 is a significant reduction in hallucination rate. Compared to its predecessor, GPT-03, GPT-5 has a 65% reduced hallucination rate. This is a significant step forward in ensuring the model's responses are more accurate and reliable.

Over 5,000 test hours, including collaborations with external organizations, were invested to test and improve GPT-5's safety measures. This extensive testing has paid off, as GPT-5 now provides 'safe answers' for potentially harmful chat inputs, staying within OpenAI's security boundaries.

Nick Turley, the head of ChatGPT, expressed his satisfaction with GPT-5, stating, 'The feel of GPT-5 is really good. I believe that people will notice, especially those who haven't been deeply involved with AI models before.'

GPT-5 is not just a step up in terms of safety and reliability; it also demonstrates improved performance. In healthcare-related tests like HealthBench, HealthBench Hard, and HealthBench Consensus, GPT-5 outperforms previous versions.

Moreover, GPT-5 has proven to be an excellent programming assistant. According to Michelle Pokrass, a senior post-training team member, GPT-5 is effective at long chain and tool calls.

Pricing for using GPT-5 via ChatGPT is as follows: the ChatGPT Plus plan costs approximately 23 euros per month, while the Pro plan costs about 229 euros per month. There are also Team plans starting at around 25 euros per user per month, and Enterprise plans with custom pricing.

The impact of GPT-5 is evident in its widespread usage. Nearly 700 million people use ChatGPT weekly, including around 5 million paying business users and 4 million developers accessing the API.

One impressive demonstration of GPT-5's capabilities was when it was tasked to create a French learning web app. In about a minute, GPT-5 delivered a website meeting all criteria.

As GPT-5 continues to be rolled out and used by more people, it will be interesting to see how it further shapes the landscape of AI and its applications.
