Church's PA system in Texas gets an upgrade with EAW ADAPTive replacement
In Texas, USA, the Corpus Christi campus of Church Unlimited has undergone a significant upgrade to its sound reinforcement system, with the installation of Eastern Acoustic Works' (EAW) ADAPTive sound system. This modern audio solution, designed to deliver an immersive and consistent experience, has been hailed by senior systems engineer at Messenger AVL, Parker Gann, as a resounding success.
The ADAPTive system boasts several key features and benefits, as demonstrated in this project. The software-controlled adaptive coverage ensures even, consistent sound coverage throughout the worship space, reaching every corner of the room from a short, visually unobtrusive array. This capability meets the church’s goals of clarity, consistency, and immersive audio without compromising aesthetics or requiring a large physical footprint.
The system also provides the performance and sonic flexibility needed to create a feeling of width and immersion while adhering to a fixed budget. This balance of quality and cost-efficiency was critical for Church Unlimited’s upgrade. To fulfill the pastor's request for musical, full-range bass throughout the room, the system incorporates 12 SBX218 subwoofers—six flown and six ground-stacked.
The ADAPTive system replaced a 20-year-old PA system, significantly elevating sound clarity, intelligibility, and overall worship experience for a growing congregation. The versatility in configuration allows tailored installation options depending on the venue's architecture and acoustic needs.
Four Anna loudspeakers were used as mains, with Anya loudspeakers providing out fill. Two AC6 column loudspeakers added extra horizontal coverage. Messenger AVL, a Georgia-based design-build integrator, was the integration partner for the project. They fine-tuned the coverage throughout the entire room for intelligibility and balance in difficult seating areas.
Parker Gann expressed his satisfaction with the performance and flexibility of EAW's ADAPTive series for Church Unlimited's project. He praised the low-end performance of the Anna and Anya boxes, and noted that the PA system barely touches the boxes while providing impressive performance. He also commended the AC6 loudspeakers for their ability to cover a large amount of space and their clean aesthetic.
The sound system has a significant amount of headroom and power, ensuring an extremely engaging experience for every seat in the room. The church was pleased with the clean aesthetic offered by EAW's sound system, as it met their specific sonic goals within a fixed budget. The installation of the EAW sound system at Church Unlimited's Corpus Christi campus has undoubtedly transformed the worship environment, delivering a modern, immersive audio experience.
