ComEd's EV Rebate Program Hits $100M as Chicago Drives Electric Event Offers Test Drives

ComEd's electric vehicle (EV) rebate program has been a resounding success, awarding over $100 million since its launch in 2024. Meanwhile, the Chicago Drives Electric event is currently underway in Oakbrook Terrace, offering attendees a chance to test drive a wide range of EVs.

The event, running until Sunday, October 5, features 44 different EV models from 16 manufacturers. Jennifer Morand, president of Chicago Auto Show and Chicago Automobile Trade Association, urges visitors to take advantage of this opportunity to experience EVs firsthand and decide if they're a suitable fit.

Illinois has seen a rapid increase in EV registrations, growing at a rate three to four times faster than the national average between 2024 and 2025. As of now, nearly 150,000 EVs are registered in the state, with 90% falling within ComEd's service territory. This growth is partly attributed to ComEd's rebate program, which has incentivized EV adoption.

The Chicago Drives Electric event provides a unique chance for Illinois residents to explore the latest EV offerings. With ComEd's continued support through rebates, the state's EV market is expected to continue its robust growth.
