In a significant move to enhance public safety and connectivity, Vodafone Germany has recently put a tmobile communication station into operation in Meudt. This station, which eliminates a gap in mobile broadband coverage, is part of an expansion stage for Vodafone's mobile network in the Westerwald district.
Tanja Richter, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Vodafone Germany, emphasized the importance of mobile communication in improving the quality of life, local economy, and jobs. She stated that the company is meeting the strong demand from the population by closing gaps and expanding mobile news highways.
The new t mobile communication station in Meudt is equipped with the latest technology, including the new Cell Broadcast system. This technology warns the surrounding population via smartphone in case of danger situations such as large fires, gas explosions, or floods. The station also supports the latest variants of the emergency call technology AML and the disaster warning system Cell Broadcast.
Vodafone is driving infrastructure expansion in Germany and reaches two-thirds of all German households with gigabit speed in its nationwide cable-fiber network. The company is also planning to build up to seven million new FTTH fiber connections in the coming years, in partnership with OXG.
In addition to Meudt, two new construction sites will be put into operation in Giesenhausen within the next twelve months. Four more mobile communication construction projects are planned in the Westerwald district by mid-2026. The municipality of Langenbach bei Kirburg is a planned location for a 5G upgrade.
Vodafone currently operates 91 mobile communication stations in the district, with 86 equipped with LTE and 39 with 5G. The goal of Vodafone's next expansion phase is to upgrade the remaining 52 stations without 5G to 5G locations, if technically feasible.
It's worth noting that AML automatically transmits the location of the caller to the emergency control center when calling the "112" emergency number. Vodafone's machine network (Narrowband IoT) covers over 97% of Germany's surface area for industry and business.
With over 30 million mobile, over 10 million broadband, and around 12 million TV customers, and generating approximately 13 billion euros in annual turnover with around 15,000 employees, Vodafone Germany is one of the leading communication conglomerates in Germany, providing internet, mobile, fixed-line, and TV services.
In conclusion, Vodafone's expansion in the Westerwald district is a significant step towards improving public safety, connectivity, and the local economy. The new mobile communication stations and the installation of additional antennas for LTE and 5G will create larger network capacities in certain places, ensuring a reliable and fast mobile network for the residents of the district.
