Construct the most outlandish mobile train station on an alien world in the multiplayer survival game, Railborn, and traverse the alien landscape aboard your unique train base.
Hop Aboard the Scifi Survival Train: Railborn
Ever wondered what it'd be like to build and journey through a mobile labyrinth on wheels? That's the premise behind Railborn, a fresh addition to the survival genre from Washbear Studio, masterminds behind the dino-ranch sim, Parkasaurus. Unveiled during the PC Gaming Show 2025, Railborn shakes up the established formula with its unique alien planet setting and train-based base-building mechanics.
In Railborn, you find yourself plunked down on an extraterrestrial world, a good 350 light years from our humble blue planet. Your mission? Survive and thrive, obviously! The key to your success? Constructing an intricate train filled with various biomes, each car serving as a unique ecosystem, ranging from bar cars to, well, underground caves decked out in stalactites and mushrooms.
Starting out humbly with a rudimentary handcar made of wood, you'll gather resources along the rail line, craft an engine, secure food and water, and grow a plot of vegetables for sustenance. Eventually, your handcar will blossom into a train brimming with character, allowing for wild and whacky customization options, including cars of different shapes, glass walls, multiple levels, and neon hues. The wild west of train-building awaits!
As for the alien biodiversity, prepare to share your train with Bulborbs (large, dog-sized alien lizards), as well as gazing upon unusual flora and fauna in train cars sporting greenhouses and aquariums.
When it comes to the building system, Railborn eschews rigidity, letting your imagination run wild. The train showcased in the trailer boasts an eclectic blend of varied train cars, a testament to the unleashed creativity Railborn promises. If you enjoyed building your floating base on Raft, you'll likely find yourself smitten with Railborn's train-based construction system.
Better yet, you don't have to rough it alone. Railborn supports up to four players in cooperative mode, encouraging teamwork in maintaining your train base and exploring the diverse alien landscapes. Get ready to embark on an unforgettable journey when Railborn hits Early Access on Windows in the near future. Keep it on your Steam wishlist for updates, and don't forget to keep up with all the latest gaming news, reviews, and hardware deals!
