Demonstrating Dual Listen Function on CrewCom CB2 at 2025 NAB Exhibition
The latest firmware update (v1.2) for Pliant Technologies' CrewCom CB2 Professional Wireless Intercom system has been released, introducing several new features and improvements. The most notable addition is the inclusion of dual listen capabilities [2][3].
This new function allows individual CRP-12 Radio Packs (RPs) to simultaneously listen to both the A and B channels, enhancing communication flexibility and situational awareness during complex production scenarios. This feature is expected to significantly improve operational efficiency, particularly in live production or event settings where multiple communication channels need to be monitored concurrently.
The CrewCom CB2 system, a full-duplex, install-friendly, and feature-packed solution, is suitable for various small-scale production environments such as theaters, houses of worship, and other small events [4]. The system is compatible with Pliant's complete line of SmartBoom headsets and the CRP-12 radio packs share the same batteries as CrewCom, making them compatible with its 6+6 Drop-In Radio Pack and battery charger [1].
The system can be synced and co-located in the same coverage area as an existing CrewCom system, with the potential to combine two CB2 BaseStations for up to 32 total users in High Density mode [5]. The small, lightweight IP65-rated beltpacks are reliable, durable, and easy to operate, making them ideal for professional use [1].
The CrewCom CB2 system offers 7K audio quality for crystal clear communication in various production environments and includes the CrewCom CB2 BaseStation and up to six CRP-12 two-channel radio packs [6]. The new firmware update is free of charge to all users and will soon be available for direct download from the Pliant Technologies website [7].
The CrewCom CB2 system will be showcased at Booth N2769 in the North Hall of the LVCC at the 2025 NAB Show in Las Vegas [8]. With the new firmware update, Radio Pack Talk Tones can now be enabled or disabled from the Pack Setting Menu on the BaseStation, and in addition to a momentary setting, the talk button mode for individual Radio Packs can now be set to latching while in high density operational mode [2].
The system is available in both 900MHz and 2.4GHz frequency options, as well as 900MHz Oceania and 2.4GHz CE compliant models, providing flexibility for various production environments [9]. With these enhancements, the CrewCom CB2 system continues to be a powerful and versatile tool for professional audio and broadcasting environments.
