DJI Unveils New Remote Controllers for Expanded Drone Lineup

In a move to enhance the user experience, DJI, the global leader in civilian drones and creative technologies, has released a series of new remote controllers to cater to its diverse range of drones. Here's a breakdown of the latest offerings and their compatible drones.

Mavic Mini Controller

The Mavic Mini Controller, typically paired with the original Mavic Mini, is designed to communicate with the drone using an Enhanced Wi-Fi protocol. It is also compatible with the Mini 3 and Mini 4 Pro drones, but these newer models require the DJI RC-N1 or newer controllers.

DJI RC Controller

The DJI RC controller, compatible with the Mini 4 Pro, Mini 3 Pro, Mini 3, Mini 3 SE, Mavic Air 2, Air 2S, Mavic 3, Mavic 3 Classic, Mavic 3 Cine, and Mavic 3 Pro drones, features two gimbal dials and a battery life of 4 hours. It comes with a built-in 5.5-inch 1080p screen and supports O3 and O3+ video transmission.

DJI RC-N1 and DJI RC231 (also known as RC 2)

These controllers serve as standard options across multiple drone lines such as Mini series, Air 2S, and Mavic 3. They share a compatibility list, supporting the same drones, including Mini series, Air 2S, Mavic 3 (including Cine, Normal, and Sport flight modes).

DJI RC Pro and RC Pro 2

These controllers cater more to enterprise and recent consumer drones, supporting models like M30, M30T, Mini 3 Pro, Mini 4 Pro, and enterprise variants M3M, M3E, M3T. The DJI RC Pro, in particular, boasts a 5.5-inch touchscreen that can go up to 1000 nits, dual gimbal controls, a 5D button, and three customizable buttons.

DJI FPV V2 Controller

Specifically designed for DJI's FPV drones - namely the DJI FPV and the DJI Avata, this controller requires an FPV headset. It runs the O3 video transmission which has been optimized with low response times for FPV flight.

DJI RC-N2 and DJI RC Motion 2

The DJI RC-N2 does not have a built-in screen but uses a tethered connection to an external device. It is compatible with the Mini 4 Pro and Air 3 drones. The DJI RC Motion 2, an updated motion controller, is mainly designed for FPV series compatibility and is limited to specific models.

DJI Motion Controller

This controller allows users to fly a drone using just hand movements and is compatible with DJI FPV and DJI Avata drones.

DJI Smart Controller

The DJI Smart Controller, compatible with the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0, Mini 2, Mavic Air 2, Air 2S, Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic 2 Zoom, Mavic 2 Enterprise drones, has a built-in 5.5-inch 1080p screen and many smart controls, but it has a limited transmission range due to using an older version of the OcuSync technology.

For the latest cross-support information, especially for newer models, always check firmware and app compatibility.

The Mavic Mini Controller, originally designed for the Mavic Mini, is also compatible with the Mini 3 and Mini 4 Pro drones, demonstrating the integration of drone technology with other gadgets like remote controllers. The DJI RC Pro and RC Pro 2 controllers cater to diverse drone models, including the enterprise-focused M30, M30T, and consumer drones like the Mini 3 Pro and Mini 4 Pro, showcasing the advanced technology used in these cutting-edge gadgets.
