Combat Caveats
With such a focus on survival and politics, combat takes a secondary role in Dune: Awakening. Much like the book on which it is based, the MMO shies away from action-packed battles in favor of a more tactical approach. You won't find yourself enthralled by the fight mechanics, but the unique challenge they offer feels appropriate in the harsh world of Arrakis.
The MMO elements reveal themselves only in the latter stages, with coordinated teamwork becoming essential for tackling the game's toughest challenges. While forming temporary groups is possible, Dune: Awakening doesn't pushits players into cooperative play until the endgame. The game is a different beast when played with a dedicated group of friends, but the slower combat and demanding survival systems make it a challenging choice for casual gamers.
