Du's vision for UAE's technological advancement in the 6G era: Strategies for shaping the Emirate's tech-oriented future

In the dynamic landscape of the UAE's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, Du is making significant strides, shaping the future with a comprehensive digital transformation strategy.

Du has launched a series of initiatives aimed at improving user experience, including Du Pay and self-service kiosks. The company's digital transformation strategy focuses on AI and 5G integration, cloud expansion, and customer-centric innovation.

One of Du's key initiatives is the launch of the National Hypercloud, a sovereign-grade cloud platform developed in partnership with Oracle. This move underscores Du's commitment to providing robust and secure cloud solutions.

Du is also making strides in the realm of sustainability. The telecom giant is implementing solar-powered telecom sites, adopting 100% digital invoicing, and employing AI-driven RAN optimisation. These efforts have earned Du prestigious recognition, including the ESG Label from Dubai Chamber and ISO certification for sustainable procurement.

In terms of AI innovation, Du has developed sub-brands du Tech and du Infra to support B2B digital transformation initiatives. The company's ICT strategy includes AI Data Centres, Sovereign Cloud, Generative and Agentic AI, Industry 4.0, Advanced Robotics, and National Hyperscaler Partnerships.

Du's cybersecurity strategy is built around its Digital Trust platform, offering robust threat detection and response capabilities, in-country data hosting, and a sophisticated layered security architecture.

The UAE ICT market, however, faces challenges such as a critical cybersecurity talent shortage, high expatriate turnover rates, and increasingly stringent data protection laws. Despite these challenges, the market is projected to grow from $52.23 billion in 2025 to $85.24 billion by 2030, representing a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 10.29%.

Muzaffar Rizvi, an accomplished financial journalist with over 25 years of experience in the UAE and Pakistan, has been following Du's journey closely. In a recent interview, Rizvi highlighted Du's achievements, stating, "Du's commitment to digital transformation, sustainability, and cybersecurity is commendable. The company's strategic alliances with Oracle Alloy, NVIDIA, and Microsoft, as well as its participation in 6G research, position Du as a leader in the UAE's ICT sector."

Du has achieved 99% 5G coverage and is actively involved in 6G research. The company aims to lead in 6G development and AI-powered services, expand into emerging sectors through fintech platforms, and maintain its commitment to aligning with national digital transformation and sustainability goals.

To further bolster its cloud capabilities, Du is building a Dh2 billion hyperscale data centre in collaboration with Microsoft, expanding its existing network of data centres. This move underscores Du's commitment to providing cutting-edge technology and services to its customers.

As Du continues to shape the future of the UAE's ICT sector, it remains focused on delivering innovative, sustainable, and secure solutions to its customers. With its comprehensive digital transformation strategy, Du is well-positioned to meet the challenges and opportunities of the evolving digital landscape.
