El Salvador Launches AI & Robotics Program in Schools with GIZ
El Salvador's National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC) has partnered with the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) to launch an innovative educational program. The initiative, focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics, will commence in late January, benefiting 20 secondary schools initially.
The program builds on ONBTC's previous efforts to promote technological education and investment in El Salvador. It aims to equip students with essential skills to tackle current and future technological challenges. The curriculum will cover Bitcoin, blockchain, AI, and robotics, with practical workshops and theoretical courses.
The collaboration began after a meeting between Cathie Wood, CEO of ARK Invest, and President Nayib Bukele. The project seeks to foster a conducive environment for technological development and attract investments. It complements ONBTC's existing programs like 'My First Bitcoin', 'Node Nation', and 'CUBO+', through which it has already trained 80,000 public servants and educated thousands of students in its second year of operations.
The new educational program, set to cover 20 schools initially with plans for expansion, is expected to improve students' technical skills and contribute to El Salvador's economic growth. By incorporating AI and robotics into the school curriculum, the program aims to prepare students for global labor market demands and further establish El Salvador as a 'Bitcoin Silicon Valley' for talent and investment.
