Enhanced 3D Tracking in Mocha Pro 2024.5: A Simplified Approach

Mocha Pro, a leading visual effects software, has unveiled its latest update, version 2024.5. This release brings significant enhancements to 2D tracking, roto workflow, and 3D solves, making it a powerful tool for filmmakers and visual effects artists.

One of the key features is the integration of AI-based roto masking. Users can now isolate objects with a single click, and automatically propagate mattes through entire shots, greatly speeding up rotoscoping tasks. The 2D tracking toolset has also been extended, with a new multi-export system that facilitates exporting tracking data to multiple file formats and directly to After Effects.

The update also introduces an easy-to-use 3D tracking workflow powered by SynthEyes' technology. This feature allows for more robust 3D head mesh tracking, enabling improved head tracking and match-moving capabilities. Users can also seamlessly transfer 2D & 3D tracking data from Mocha Pro into SynthEyes.

In the realm of user convenience, Mocha Pro 2024.5 offers Mesh Texture Preview, which allows users to see footage projected onto solved Meshes in the viewport. PowerMesh now takes advantage of Extrapolate track, making it easier to skip past difficult areas. Users can also dupe their roto shapes to exclude unwanted elements in shots.

The new release also includes quality of life improvements such as Inverted Masks, which allow the solver to accept inverted matte layers to easily isolate areas. Object Filtering allows users to view, collapse, and organize multiple 3D objects in the 3D Object panel, providing a more streamlined workflow.

For difficult camera solves, Camera Solve Preprocessing uses the same preprocessing tools used in tracking images. High Pass Preprocessing is a new option to pull out details for tracking or limit the problems caused by fast lighting changes. Mocha Pro 2024.5 also adds 3D Alembic Export to its list of options, delivering greater flexibility in supported host applications.

Lastly, Mocha Pro 2024.5 offers Easier Script Access to PowerMesh, providing new Python convenience functions to drill down into the Mesh properties. Selected Point Python Properties allow users to get and set the selected state of contour points & mesh vertices.

Interested users can download Mocha Pro, install it, and request a 14-day free trial via the Boris FX Hub. With these new features, Mocha Pro 2024.5 is set to redefine visual effects workflows, making them more efficient and precise.
