Ford Bids Farewell to Iconic Focus ST After 23 Years
Ford has bid farewell to its iconic hot hatch, the Focus ST, after over two decades. The final model, a red Focus ST X Estate, rolled off the production line on 26 September 2025 at the Saarlouis plant.
The Focus ST's journey began in 2002 with the 'ST170', powered by a naturally aspirated two-litre engine producing 173 PS. It evolved through five generations, with each iteration showcasing Ford's engineering prowess.
The second generation (2005) introduced a five-cylinder turbo engine from Volvo, capable of reaching 241 km/h and accelerating from 0-60 in 6.8 seconds. The fourth generation (2019) saw the addition of a turbo diesel engine option for the first time, producing 190 PS and up to 400 Nm of torque. The final generation (2022) featured a 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 280 PS and 420 Nm of torque.
Throughout its lifespan, the Focus ST was renowned for its 'successful chassis tuning', earning it the title of 'land road hero par excellence'. It was available until the end as a compact sedan and estate version, with both manual and automatic transmission options.
The end of the Ford Focus ST marks not just the closure of a production line, but also the end of an era for sporty Focus models. After over 23 years, the 'very last' Focus ST has been produced, leaving behind a legacy of performance and driving enjoyment.
