In a significant move towards digital transformation, AIMA (Associação para o Investimento e Desenvolvimento da Imigração e da Integração), a leading organisation in Portugal, has announced the establishment of two new teams and the intention to open new Local Migrant Integration Support Centres (CLAIM).

The DATA Team and the UX Team have been organised with distinct goals, structures, and responsibilities. The DATA Team primarily focuses on data management, analysis, and supporting digital transformation initiatives. Their primary objective is to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making within AIMA through advanced data analytics and insights. The UX Team, on the other hand, centers on user experience design and interface improvements, aiming to create more intuitive, efficient digital interfaces for AIMA members and stakeholders.

The DATA Team comprises technicians and experts in information systems and technologies. Their responsibilities include managing data workflows, ensuring data quality, and enabling regulatory or organisational policy assessments based on data trends. The UX Team, responsible for promoting the internal adoption of new solutions through training, guides, and onboarding, is tasked with designing digital interactions, enhancing user engagement, and continuously improving the usability of digital platforms associated with AIMA’s operations.

The operations of both teams involve internal resources, external services, and funding from AIMA, PRR, and European project funds. The design, testing, and implementation of simple, scalable, and user-friendly digital solutions are the responsibilities of the UX Team, while the DATA Team's objectives include enhancing data strategy, promoting operational efficiency, ensuring legal compliance, and strengthening decision support.

With the establishment of these teams, AIMA aims to drive data-informed decision-making through advanced data analytics and reporting (DATA Team) and improve the accessibility and effectiveness of digital tools via user-friendly design and UX best practices (UX Team). This synergy helps AIMA adapt to evolving technological landscapes, streamline regulatory and operational processes, and better serve its members and stakeholders in a rapidly changing industry environment.

Pedro Gaspar Portugal, the president of AIMA's board of directors, estimates that there will be about ten new CLAIM centres by the second half of the year. Currently, there are approximately 170 CLAIM centres, with 90 operating in partnership with local authorities. AIMA has the capacity to handle 7,000 daily consultations.

This announcement comes as part of AIMA's commitment to strengthening its response, as demonstrated by the opening of new Local Migrant Integration Support Centres (CLAIM). AIMA has also established a Multidisciplinary Digital Solutions (UX) Team to further support its digital transformation efforts.
