The Aldi PC, a surprise product that took many by surprise in the mid-1990s, has been honoured as a 'first watch' of everyday history and is now part of the new permanent exhibition at the House of History in Bonn.
Serra Schlesinger, Director of Communications at Aldi Nord, announced the exhibit on September 17, 2025. The Aldi PC, the first non-food product introduced by Aldi, is being preserved in the House of History to keep a special chapter in history alive.
Schlesinger stated that many people remember taking their first digital steps with the Aldi PC. Since then, Aldi has expanded its technology offerings to include an internet solution, mobile phones, navigation devices, and printers. Technology has become a permanent part of Aldi's home.
The Aldi PC is being exhibited at the House of History from September 23 to represent a piece of everyday history and symbolize Aldi's participation in technology. The exhibit marks the transition of the Aldi PC from a consumer product to a historical artifact.
The Aldi PC is being recognised for its role in popularizing affordable computing. The campaign to promote the exhibit, under the hashtag #ALDIstory, includes videos that can be seen on YouTube and Aldi's social media channels.
Recently, Aldi caused a stir with an ad featuring Tokio Hotel. The campaign is part of Aldi's ongoing efforts to engage with its customers and keep up with the times.
The first Aldi PC is being exhibited at the House of History in Bonn, and the exhibit is accompanied by the Aldi campaign. The Aldi PC's journey from a supermarket aisle to a museum exhibit is a testament to its impact on society and Aldi's commitment to innovation.
