Shrapnel: A Groundbreaking Web3 Game Launching in China

The web3 gaming landscape is set to expand with the upcoming global launch of Shrapnel, a free-to-play, team-based FPS game developed by Seattle-based studio Neon Machine.

Shrapnel, which has already seen over 3.7 million sessions in paid Early Access in 2024, is redefining the FPS genre with digital ownership and dynamic, tactical gameplay. The game's unique features have caught the attention of investors, with a recent $19.5 million investment led by Gala Games, known for its vibrant community and commitment to player-driven innovation.

In a significant move, Shrapnel has secured a strategic collaboration with China's Trusted Copyright Chain (TCC), becoming the first licensed web3 game approved for launch on the national blockchain. The partnership allows Shrapnel to access China's massive gaming market of over 600 million players, offering compliant digital asset trading, including real RMB transactions and cross-chain bridging.

This collaboration between Shrapnel, Gala Games, and TCC, operated under China’s National Press and Publication Administration, marks a notable example of web3 gaming expanding into the Chinese market under official approval.

GalaChain, a high-throughput Layer 1 blockchain secured by a global node network, is designed for entertainment, gaming, and DeFi. It now includes a link to China's Trusted Copyright Chain, further facilitating Shrapnel's China entry.

The investment from Gala Games, along with participation from existing investors Griffin Gaming Partners and Polychain Capital, will fund game development and support Shrapnel's upcoming global launch and launch in China.
