Germany's Mini-PV Boom: Over 1 Million Balcony Power Plants Registered

Germany is embracing small-scale solar power, with over 1,000,000 balcony power plants, or mini-PV systems, registered. The new Solar Package 1 simplifies entry into private power generation, setting a legal framework for operating these systems. Key features include feeding up to 800 watts into the household grid and module power up to 2000 watts.

Solago, a German retailer, is at the forefront of this trend, offering compact PV systems that maximize self-consumption of self-generated electricity. Their balcony power plants come with the in-house solago energy manager app, free of charge, allowing users to monitor and control their energy usage.

Solago's offerings include the 'BKW without mounting' set, priced at 1,379 euros plus shipping, and the 'Powerful 2000 watts with storage and mounting' set, priced at 1,479 euros. The latter includes a special mount for flat roofs or the ground. These sets often come with storage solutions like the Anker SOLIX Solarbank 3 Pro, ensuring continuous power supply even when the sun isn't shining.

Solago pushes the legal framework with sets like the one featuring four modules at 500 watts each, totaling 2000 watts. This set includes the Anker Solarbank 3 Pro. The company Solar The World® has also marketed a 2000-Watt balcony solar system with similar features.

With the new legal framework and innovative products, Germany's mini-PV market is booming. Retailers like solago are making it easier and more affordable for households to generate and consume their own solar power. These balcony power plants not only reduce reliance on grid electricity but also contribute to Germany's renewable energy targets.
