Gilbarco Veeder-Root (GV R), a renowned company founded in 1865 in North Carolina, United States, has entered the electric vehicle (EV) charging market with the launch of Konect. This new business offers turnkey EV charging solutions for fleets and forecourt operators.
The solution, unveiled at the UNITI expo in May, is designed to support sophisticated energy management technologies, enabling operators to sell electricity back to the grid. Konect's chargers are equipped with the ability to self-diagnose and fix up to 80% of software problems, ensuring minimal downtime.
Olga Wieczerzycki, E-mobility Solutions Sales Manager for Southern Europe at GV R, commented that GV R is extending the same high standards it delivers in fuel retail solutions to the EV charging space. Konect offers end-to-end services including consultancy, financing, maintenance, and in-life customer support.
The solution utilizes proven payment and charger management systems and builds on decades of strong relationships between GV R and its fuel retailer and fleet customers. Fleets can specify an ecosystem that maximizes operational efficiency and delivers a smooth transition to electric vehicles with Konect.
GV R's systems and technologies are designed to integrate seamlessly, ensuring cost efficiency and optimal compatibility. The company, with approximately 4,000 employees globally, now has facilities in countries like Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, India, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States. GV R began expanding internationally in the 1950s and has grown significantly in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, Australia, and Latin America.
Konect launched with an initial focus on Europe and North America, and the feedback for its services in these regions has been very encouraging, according to Olga Wieczerzycki. The solution is scalable, easily integrated with existing IT infrastructure, and is supported by GV R's expansive, forecourt-experienced, field engineering team.
The aim of Konect is to help customers optimize investments by selecting appropriate sites, maximizing uptime, and reducing operational costs. EV charging provides opportunities for fuel retailers to monetize longer dwell times by attracting drivers in-store, upselling additional services, and integrating with their own loyalty schemes.
With Konect, GV R is positioning itself as a key player in the EV charging market, offering a comprehensive solution that caters to the needs of both fleets and forecourt operators.
