Google Cloud and Ooredoo boldly progress API monetization via GSMA Open Gateway

Ooredoo Group, a leading telecommunications provider, has announced an expanded collaboration with Google Cloud that focuses on adopting the APIGEE API Management platform to scale Ooredoo's API ecosystem. This partnership aims to accelerate innovation and monetization of digital services across various sectors, including banking, fintech, e-commerce, travel, and smart mobility.

The deployment of the APIGEE platform across multiple Ooredoo markets was achieved in record time, using a variety of deployment models tailored to local needs. This strong execution and tight collaboration reflect Ooredoo's commitment to delivering innovation at scale.

By leveraging Google Cloud’s API management and AI capabilities, Ooredoo can support faster deployment of financial services, improve real-time data handling, and offer better personalized digital banking experiences. In the e-commerce sector, the scalable API ecosystem aids in smoother integrations and faster innovation, enabling richer, more responsive online marketplaces.

Enhanced data analytics and AI tools contribute to optimized booking and customer service platforms in the travel sector, while cloud-based intelligence supports advanced mobility solutions in smart mobility, potentially including real-time tracking, demand forecasting, and integrated digital services for transportation networks.

Ooredoo is also scaling its cloud business with a dedicated marketplace for Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs), set to run on Google Cloud. The Ooredoo cloud marketplace will soon offer digital tools and cloud-native services tailored to the needs of modern enterprises.

The GSMA Open Gateway framework, another key aspect of this collaboration, empowers third parties to build richer digital services across various industries. This framework transforms traditionally siloed telecom networks into open, programmable platforms, allowing developers to access telco network capabilities as APIs.

This collaboration between Ooredoo and Google Cloud continues to benefit Ooredoo from Google Cloud's best-in-class infrastructure, AI, and data analytics capabilities. The partnership has been recognised with an award presented by Google Cloud, recognising the success of their APIGEE collaboration and Ooredoo's outstanding API achievements powered by Google Cloud technologies.

The Google Cloud Summit Doha event, held recently to mark the second anniversary of Google Cloud's operations in Qatar, served as the platform for this significant announcement. This collaboration is set to accelerate service delivery for Ooredoo, enabling the company to build a more integrated and efficient digital infrastructure powered by cloud and AI technologies, facilitating advanced service creation, personalized customer data platforms, and regional customer insights for enhanced user experience.
