Google has rolled out a new design for Google Photos on Android, although not all users may appreciate the change
In a significant move, Google has introduced a major update for its popular Google Photos app, celebrating its 10th anniversary. While the new features are currently available on iOS, Android users can expect to enjoy them soon. Here's a rundown of the changes:
1. **Redesigned Photo View**
The app now offers a more personalised viewing experience with the introduction of a dynamic Light Mode. This feature aligns the app's theme with the device's system theme, providing a seamless user interface. Clearer photo details are also displayed directly over the photos, eliminating the need to swipe up for date, time, and location information. Additionally, interactive badges have been added for actions like playing or pausing live photos, enhancing the app's utility.
2. **Expanded Menu Options**
The three-dot menu in Google Photos has been expanded to include more actions such as Google Lens, Create, Cast, Save As, and Download/Delete from the device. This provides users with a wider range of options for managing their photos.
3. **Other Recent Updates**
Apart from the latest changes, Google Photos has also introduced an AI-powered editor refresh, offering suggestions for easier edits. Users can now enjoy an upgraded HDR effect, available in the "Adjust" tab, known as Ultra HDR. Furthermore, users can share albums more easily using QR codes, a feature that has been added to the app.
Android users can look forward to these updates in the near future. Until then, they can continue to use the app's existing features, including the option to tap individual parts of their photo to edit those specifically in the updated photo editor. When viewing photo stacks or bursts, a three-dot menu will be available for options like changing the top photo, removing an image, unstacking, and multi-select.
Google's commitment to continuous improvement is evident in these updates, ensuring that users have a seamless and enjoyable experience with the Google Photos app. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available for Android users.
