Google's Street View vehicles resume operation in Romania, aiming to update visuals along more than 25,000 kilometers of roads.
Updated Google Street View Roam Returns to Romania This Spring
Get ready, Romania! The trusty Google Street View cars are making their comeback, starting in April! These automotive explorers will traverse the nation for months, capturing up-to-date Street View images on over 25,000 kilometers of roads.
From bustling cities like Bucharest, Timișoara, Sibiu, and Ploiești to picturesque smaller towns such as Brad, Onișori, Sulina, and Turda, these mobile photographers will leave no stone unturned (or town unphotographsed!).
Launched in Romania back in 2010 on Google Maps, the Street View service quickly covered 40,000 kilometers of roads by 2012, and it didn't stop there. Major cities have seen constant updates, with iconic spots such as the Turda Salt Mine, Bran Castle, Alba Iulia Fortress, Brukenthal National Museum, Danube River, Danube Delta, and more joining the virtual tour.
In partnership with the Tașulceasa Social Association, a whopping 900 kilometers of Via Transilvanica were snapped in 2023, allowing you to explore this route in a heartbeat (virtually, that is) through Street View images on Google Maps.
After the 2024 update, it's time to roll (the cameras) again!
Street View, brought to you by Google Maps, is available across more than 250 countries and territories, even the Arctic and Antarctica. Fancy a glimpse of your future Street View-able road? You can check out the latest list here!
