In a significant boost for the technology and analytics sector in Virginia, Systems Planning & Analysis (SPA) has announced plans to expand its operations in Northern Virginia. Governor Glenn Youngkin announced a $46.9 million investment by SPA for this expansion, which will see the creation of over 1,700 new jobs across Fairfax County and Alexandria.

According to Youngkin, SPA plans to grow its headquarters workforce over the next five years, with 714 new jobs in Fairfax County, 494 in Alexandria, and an additional 500 jobs yet to be specified. The expansion will bring over 1,200 new jobs to Northern Virginia.

SPA, a firm that focuses on security and defence, currently employs over 2,800 people. The company's expansion reflects its commitment to providing exceptional data-driven analytical insights to clients and fostering innovation within the organisation.

SPA's Chief Executive Officer, Rich Sawchak, expressed his excitement about deepening roots in Alexandria and Fairfax County. The SPA team found the Commonwealth's strategic location, pro-business policies, and access to world-class talent favourable for growth.

Governor Youngkin approved $9.2 million in grants from the Commonwealth's Opportunity Fund and the Virginia Economic Development Incentive Grant to assist with the project. The financial support commitment for SPA's expansion in Alexandria and Fairfax County was also given by Fairfax County, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the City of Alexandria.

SPA boasts experts in various fields including land, undersea, surface and air warfare operations; intelligence community, radar and sensor systems; cyber security analysis and policy, among others. The expansion is expected to strengthen SPA's presence in these areas, contributing to the growth and innovation of the defence and technology sector in Virginia.

With this expansion, SPA is set to make a significant impact on the Northern Virginia economy, providing opportunities for skilled professionals and contributing to the region's technological advancement. The company's commitment to innovation and growth is a testament to Virginia's favourable business environment and its attractiveness to technology and defence firms.
