Guide on Neutralizing Corrupted Items within FBC: Firebreak's World
Game it out, mate! Here's a lowdown on zapping them corrupted items in FBC: Firebreak. It's not rocket science, but it might slip your notice if you're not paying attention during the tutorial popup.
Corrupted items are creepy as hell, ain't they? They're like these odd modifiers you can add to your jobs, pissing off the game and adding hard-as-nails challenges but giving sweet, sweet rewards. The only way to get rid of them is to snag a rare-as-hens-teeth special weapon: the Black Rock Cycler.
To scrape together this bad boy, you need to zap those corrupted items with a Black Rock Neutralizer. You've probably stumbled upon one during your adventures: it's made of a bluish metal with two grinders up front, and when you pull the trigger, it pumps out a stream of black rock shards. Aim it at a corrupted item on your shitter's list, pull the trigger, and it'll disappear with a poof, leaving behind some valuable samples.
Usually, you can find the Black Rock Neutralizer stashed away in ammo depots, but depending on the difficulty level, you might have to go on a treasure hunt to track it down. Sometimes, you can also find one in safe zones (the respawn points you unlock by cracking open the doors). Since each new region in jobs with the corrupted modifier usually comes with a corrupted item to trash, it's smart to keep the Black Rock Neutralizer on your person.
Remember, you don't wanna hose down regular enemies with its ammo, 'cause once that bad boy's dry, you're up the creek without a paddle. As far as I can tell, there ain't no way to restock it, and you ain't guaranteed to find another if it runs out. So if the Cycler's empty, you're stuck dealing with the damn modifiers 'til the end of the game—I tried, mate, I really did.
But hey, don't fret—if you ain't the lucky type, there's a backdoor method to get your hands on Black Rock Shards. At account level 19, you can snag the Black Rock Rounds perk under the Bullet branch of the Research menu. This baby gives your guns a chance to shoot Black Rock rounds, effectively neutralizing corrupted items without the need for the special Neutralizer weapon. Just upgrade that perk, and it'll increase the odds of firing those magic rounds.
Cheers, and happy hunting!
