Hamburg, Germany - The 'Media and Education Hamburg' project fund, managed by the Hamburg authority for school and vocational training, has launched a new application round for media education projects dealing with artificial intelligence (AI). This initiative aims to promote creative ideas in the field of digital media and deepen the understanding of AI in educational projects.

The application for funding, initiated by the Hamburg Authority for School and Vocational Education, invites extra-curricular actors such as Hamburg institutions, initiatives, free carriers of youth welfare, schools, and Hamburgers with expertise in AI and media education to apply. The total funding for this purpose is 50,000 euros, with each project eligible to receive a maximum of 5,000 euros.

In the past two years, the project fund has awarded around 550,000 euros for media competence promotion. Notable recipients of funding in the previous round include the Creative Gaming Festival PLAY and the Filmfabrik Dulsberg.

According to Hamburg's Senator for Education, Ties Rabe, the goal is to foster innovation and understanding of AI in educational projects. The potential of AI to revolutionise various sectors, including the medical field, is well-documented.

The AI Summit 2023 is scheduled to discuss the potential impacts of AI, whether it leads to doom or boom. IT expert Alois Krtil has identified Hamburg as a significant hotspot for AI development.

Interested parties are invited to submit their applications to the Youth Information Centre (JIZ) by January 31, 2024. More information can be found on the hamburg.de website.

The Otto Group is also testing AI for product advice, demonstrating the growing importance of AI in everyday life. As the world becomes increasingly digital, initiatives like this one in Hamburg are crucial for preparing the next generation to navigate and thrive in this new landscape.
