HDBaseT Alliance Unveils 2024 Roadmap: Enhanced USB Connectivity and Extension
The HDBaseT Alliance has revealed its 2024 roadmap, focusing on innovations to enhance USB connectivity and extension for both installers and end users. The alliance aims to meet the increasing demand for multi-camera support, USB-C standardization, and high-performance connectivity.
The alliance has introduced the HDBaseT-USB3 standard, which allows for the extension of USB 2.0, USB 3.2, controls, power, and frame synchronization up to 328 feet (100m) over a single Category cable. This technology enables users to connect multiple devices, including cameras, over long distances without signal loss or degradation.
At the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) show in February 2024, over a dozen solutions supporting this new HDBaseT-USB3 technology were showcased. These products demonstrated the practical applications and benefits of the standard for installers and end users. However, the exact release date of the first products supporting HDBaseT-USB3 has not been publicly specified yet.
The HDBaseT Alliance's 2024 roadmap focuses on improving USB connectivity and extension, addressing the growing demand for multi-camera support and high-performance connectivity. The introduction of the HDBaseT-USB3 standard and its successful showcase at ISE indicate a promising future for long-distance, high-speed data transmission over a single cable.
