Holcim Orders 1,000 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600s for Electric Fleet Transition

Swiss construction giant Holcim is set to adopt the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 as part of its sustainability drive. The company aims to electrify its fleet, with a significant order of 1,000 units of the eActros 600, the largest of its kind for this AMG model. Series production is slated to begin late 2024.

The eActros 600, equipped with three LFP battery packs, boasts a total capacity of 621 kWh, providing a realistic range of 500 km without recharging at a 40-ton gross combination weight. This allows for over 1,000 km daily with charging during breaks. The truck's new electric drive axle delivers 400 kW continuous power and 600 kW peak power, promising up to 50% lower energy consumption compared to diesel trucks. Batteries can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes at suitable charging stations with around one megawatt of power. Holcim aims to have 30% of its heavy truck purchases or contracts be zero-emission by 2030 through this partnership with Mercedes-Benz Trucks. The eActros 600 also offers CCS charging with up to 400 kilowatts and is prepared for future megawatt charging (MCS).

Holcim's commitment to sustainability is evident in its large-scale adoption of the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600. With its impressive range, fast charging capabilities, and reduced energy consumption, the eActros 600 is set to revolutionize Holcim's fleet and contribute significantly to its zero-emission goals.
