Honda salutes cinema at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, offering a cinematic spectacle
At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, happening from July 10 to 13, Honda is all set to dazzle visitors with a cinematic extravaganza. The Japanese automaker will transform its stand into a film set, providing a series of thrilling, immersive experiences designed to make attendees feel like the lead actors in their very own blockbuster action film.
Journey through Extended Reality (XR)
Using groundbreaking XR technology, visitors will experience the thrill of modern cinema firsthand. They'll have the chance to shoot a captivating trailer in the driver's seat of the ferocious Civic Type R, followed by a jaunt through various mini-cinema studios. Here, they can strike a pose for an AI-generated movie poster, ride a Gold Wing cruising through breathtaking desert landscapes, dangle from the wing of a HondaJet, or star in a heart-pounding virtual marine adventure.
According to Hans de Jaeger, Senior Vice President of Honda Motor Europe, "We can't wait to bring the Honda brand to life for our European customers at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Our aim is to go beyond just showcasing products; we aim to share the emotions that our vehicles can evoke when they're used."
Racing Action Aplenty
Away from the stand, several Honda models will take on the legendary Goodwood hill climb. Among these will be the first public road debut of the brand-new Prelude, the intense Civic Type R Ultimate Edition, and the Super EV Concept making its global public debut.
Celebrating the Legends
Thursday will see a parade of all generations of the Civic Type R, led by racing legend John McGuinness on the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP. This will be followed by the iconic Gold Wing, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025 will also honor the 75th anniversary of Formula 1. Honda will recognize this milestone by returning the legendary Williams FW11 to Goodwood. This car, powered by a monstrous Honda RA166E engine, will produce approximately 1,500 horsepower, and it will be driven by none other than British motorsport icon Nigel Mansell. In addition, Honda will feature Dakar 2024 champion Ricky Brabec on his CRF450 RALLY.
"Showcasing our legendary motorsports heritage at the Goodwood Festival of Speed is always an exciting opportunity," says Koji Watanabe, President of Honda Racing Corporation. "This year is no exception, as we pay tribute to an icon from our F1 history: the Williams FW11. It's not only a car with a Honda engine that won a championship in 1986, but it's also one of the most iconic in F1 history. We're thrilled to have Nigel back behind the wheel, and with the participation of motorcycle legends like Ricky and John, it will be a remarkable celebration of Honda's rich tradition and racing spirit."
