Honda Unveils CUV e: and Icon e: Electric Scooters, Expanding EV Lineup
Honda has unveiled two new electric commuter scooters, the CUV e: and the Icon e:, marking significant steps towards its goal of 30 electric models globally by 2030.
The CUV e: is a 110 cc-equivalent electric scooter offering two swappable batteries and three ride modes. Top models will feature Honda RoadSync Duo for smartphone connectivity. Meanwhile, the Icon e: boasts a fixed lithium-ion battery, a range exceeding 50 km per charge, and a compact in-wheel motor. Both scooters will initially be produced in Indonesia before expanding globally.
In India, Honda is building its first electric two-wheeler plant in Karnataka, hinting at an upcoming electric scooter launch. The electric Activa is expected to hit the market by the end of 2023. The Icon e: offers ample under-seat storage, additional luggage compartments, and a USB charging port.
Honda's introduction of the CUV e: and Icon e: signals its commitment to electric mobility. With plans to launch 30 electric models globally by 2030, including an electric Activa in India, the company is poised to make a significant impact in the electric two-wheeler market.
