Huawei Constructs Dependable Data Centers for the Age of Artificial Intelligence
At the Huawei Connect 2025 in Shanghai, Steve Kim, President of Data Center Facility & Critical Power Marketing at Huawei Digital Power, shared insights about the future of AI Data Centres (AI DCs).
According to Kim, the scale of new AI DCs is expected to reach 112 GW in the next five years. This ambitious target underscores Huawei's commitment to driving innovation in the field of AI.
Huawei Digital Power is focusing on building a robust foundation for intelligent computing. By continuously innovating and integrating digital and power electronics technologies, they aim to provide more computing power from each watt.
To achieve this, Huawei Digital Power has outlined several key areas for improvement. These include simplifying conversion links, driving innovation in power supply architecture, and developing efficient thermal management solutions.
The company has released the AIDC Facility Reference Design White Paper, which provides systematic guidance for AI DC design and construction. The White Paper offers in-depth analysis and design suggestions for cooling, power supply and distribution, floor height, and load-bearing capacity in high-density cabinets of AI DCs.
Recognising the importance of industry-wide collaboration, Huawei Digital Power intends to foster collaboration to build a better, greener future.
The Data Center Infrastructure Summit, organised by Huawei Digital Power, attracted over 500 business leaders, technical experts, and ecosystem partners. During the event, Huawei Digital Power showcased its green and low-carbon all-scenario digital power solutions and success stories.
One of the solutions highlighted was a hybrid thermal management architecture with an adjustable air-liquid ratio. This design aims to adapt to dynamic AI service requirements, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency.
Huawei's comprehensive AI DC solutions also include all-scenario reference design, highly reliable products & solutions, a global ecosystem, and full-lifecycle services.
Kim emphasised that future infrastructure must be built with AI readiness in mind, turning traditional data center engineering into productized and prefabricated AI DC solutions. He further added that AI foundation models expedite the intelligent transformation of industries and propel the explosion of global GW-scale clusters.
The shift in application scenarios and value of AI from quantitative growth to qualitative transformation is largely due to improvements in computing infrastructure and advancements in model deep reasoning and multi-model fusion technologies.
As the world moves towards a more digital and interconnected future, Huawei Digital Power is at the forefront of driving innovation in AI DCs, aiming to create a sustainable, efficient, and intelligent digital world.
