Hyundai accelerates production plans: Introducing 7 new N models, aiming for a sales figure of 100,000 units by 2030.
Hyundai Motor Company made a significant announcement during a media event celebrating the 10th anniversary of its high-performance brand, Hyundai N. The event, held in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province, marked the unveiling of plans to expand the N series into electric vehicles and the development of a new gasoline engine for this sector.
Park Joon-woo, head of Hyundai N management, revealed the exciting news. The N series, which includes motorsports-focused machines, has already ventured into the high-performance segment beyond Hyundai's expertise in everyday passenger cars. Since 2023, five of the seven newly launched N models have been fully electric.
Hyundai N aims to sell 100,000 units of these performance models annually. To achieve this goal, the company plans to release at least seven new performance models by 2030. These models will be derived from the Veloster, Kona, Avante, and its electric Ioniq series.
The N Archive, featuring around 50 vehicles, was also opened in Uiwang. The cars in the N Archive are displayed on metal frames in chronological order, offering a glimpse into Hyundai's evolution in high-performance development. The Archive includes rare units like the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo and the i20 WRC.
It's worth noting that Hyundai N will continue developing internal combustion and hybrid models for the N series. The company is shifting focus from electrification in the premium segment, indicating a commitment to catering to a broader range of performance enthusiasts.
Hyundai N Archive is initially not open to the public but offers guided tours by reservation every weekend from Sept. 27 to the end of the year. The Archive highlights Hyundai's venture into EV motorsports and its continued push to deliver greater driving excitement worldwide, becoming a brand that truly rewards its fans and customers.
The United States currently stands as the largest market for N models. As Hyundai continues to push the boundaries of imagination and courage, it is exciting to see what the future holds for this innovative brand.
