The competitive esports league for EVA VR Bucharest, the latest addition to the international Esports Virtual Arenas network, is set to debut in September 2025. This marks the 58th VR arena within the network, with more locations planned for Bucharest and other cities in Romania.

The new centre, housed in the former Metav industrial building in the north of the capital, was inaugurated on June 7, 2023. The steampunk-themed facility boasts two 500-square-meter arenas, a bar and restaurant, see-through panels, and wall-mounted screens, creating an immersive gaming environment.

Andrei Moisa, the manager of EVA VR Bucharest, emphasises the centre's appeal to gamers, likening the experience to being inside a video game. Players are equipped with headsets and armed before being sent to opposite sides of the map, ready to engage in intense, action-packed game sessions.

The games offered at EVA VR Bucharest cater to a wide range of interests. Players can choose from several game modes, including domination, free-for-all, skirmish mode, and a zombie mode called "Moon of the Dead". The centre also features popular maps such as "The Rock", a Martian prison map, and "Atlantis", an underwater base map.

Each game session lasts between 30 to 40 minutes and can include 3 to 7 maps. Players can also select from 54 different weapons, skins, loadouts, battle pass, and seasons, each with its unique theme, maps, and new weapons.

The centre welcomes players of all ages, not just dedicated gamers. Prices per session per person range from 89 Lei (EUR 17.7) during the week to RON 109 Lei (EUR 21.4) on weekends and evenings.

According to Moisa, the centre boasts a high player return rate of around 70%, a testament to the engaging and enjoyable gaming experience it offers. Movement in the game matches 1-to-1 with movement in the arena, reducing the risk of motion sickness.

After each game session, players receive a post-game stat sheet detailing their kill-to-death ratio, meters walked, and other stats, providing a sense of achievement and fostering a competitive spirit.

With the launch of a professional league in Bucharest starting in September 2025, EVA VR Bucharest is set to become a hub for esports in Romania, offering an exciting new dimension to the world of competitive gaming.
