In a pulsating Continental Hockey League (CHL) match, Nizhny Novgorod emerged victorious against SKA with a 4:3 scoreline at their home arena. The new head coach of Nizhny Novgorod, Alexei Isakov, made a successful debut in the league.

The game started with Vladislav Firtsov scoring the first goal for Nizhny Novgorod at the 16th minute. However, SKA managed to equalise the score twice, first at 34:31 and then at 35:08.

The momentum shifted in the second half when Alexei Kruchin, the captain and best player of the match, scored the crucial third goal for Nizhny Novgorod at 49:30, assisted by Vasily Atanasov. Atanasov had earlier scored the second goal for Nizhny Novgorod at the 27th minute, with Bobby Nardella and Kruchin providing the assists.

The opposing team attempted a goaltender pull, but it did not help them secure a win. The game-winning goal was scored by Nikita Shavin at 52:00, assisted by Egor Vinogradov.

Igor Larionov, the coach for SKA, will be looking to bounce back from this loss as they prepare for their next game against Torpedo on September 8 in the "Mountain" arena, with a start time of 19:30. Artemi Pleschkow, the goalkeeper of SKA, will be between the pipes for the upcoming game.

Torpedo's lineup for the game included Kulbakov, Naumenkov, Konushkov (A), Goncharuk - Kruchin (C) - Atanasov, Nardella, Silayev, Sokolov, Letunov - Firtsov, Sizov (A) - Boykov, Ryzhkov - Abramov - Voronin, Vinogradov - Belevich - Shavin, Chefanov. The team had 28 hits in the game.

SKA suffered a loss in their previous game to the Shanghai Dragons on Saturday, with the Dragons winning 7:4 as the home team in St. Petersburg. The defeat will surely be a motivator for Igor Larionov and his team to put up a strong performance against Torpedo.
