Electric Vehicle Adoption Grows Sluggishly in Saxony-Anhalt

As of January 1, 2025, 1.6% of all registered passenger cars in the state ran solely on electricity, with 19,343 electric vehicles reported by the State Statistical Office. This figure represents a 17.9% growth compared to the previous year, marking an addition of 2,941 electric vehicles.

In total, Saxony-Anhalt counted 1,521,611 motor vehicles registered as of the mentioned date, noting an overall increase of 8,145 vehicles compared to the prior year.

gasoline-powered cars remain dominant, with approximately 797,000 vehicles, while 329,000 are diesel-powered. Women represent 37.7% of passenger car registrations, while women's registration of motorcycles stands at 11.8%.
