Increased Sales Reports for Nintendo in Q2 of This Year
Nintendo's latest offering, the Nintendo Switch 2, has made a remarkable debut in the global market. The gaming giant announced record-breaking sales for the console, with over six million units sold in just seven weeks since its launch on June 5, 2025.
According to Nintendo's Q1 2026 financial results, the Nintendo Switch 2 has surpassed the sales figures of its competitors, the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series, in the same timeframe. This achievement marks it as the fastest-selling video game console launch ever.
Nintendo's consolidated sales more than doubled from the previous year, reaching 572.3 billion yen, and the operating profit rose by 4.4% to 56,928 million yen. The net profit increased by 18.6% to 96,032 million yen, reflecting the strong demand for the Nintendo Switch 2.
The sales figure for the Nintendo Switch 2 is particularly impressive considering that the company sold approximately 5.82 million units by June 30, less than a month after its release. Sales continued to grow, reaching over 6 million units by around July 24, seven weeks post-launch.
Regional sales breakdown shows that Japan accounted for 1.27 million units, the Americas 2.08 million, Europe 1.34 million, and other regions 1.13 million.
Demand for the Nintendo Switch 2 is currently exceeding supply in many countries, and Nintendo is working to increase production accordingly. The company aims to sell 15 million units of the Switch 2 in the fiscal year through next March.
Alongside hardware sales, associated software sales also performed strongly. A total of 8.67 million Switch 2 games were sold in the same period, including 5.63 million copies of Mario Kart World, a launch title often bundled with the console.
The success of the Nintendo Switch 2 is a testament to Nintendo's ability to innovate and meet the changing demands of the gaming market. With its record-breaking sales start, the Nintendo Switch 2 is poised to redefine the gaming industry yet again.
