Tyler 'Ninja' Blevins Hosts 24-Hour Charity Stream for Skin Cancer

Tyler 'Ninja' Blevins, the third most-popular streamer on Twitch with over 67 million followers across platforms, is currently hosting a 24-hour charity stream to raise funds for skin cancer detection and prevention. The event, live on Twitch and YouTube, features guest appearances from doctors and aims to raise a target of $250,000.

Blevins, who gained significant popularity with the rise of Fortnite in 2017/18, has been an iconic figure on Twitch. His streams, which often pulled in just under 700,000 live viewers, made him synonymous with the game. However, the decline in the popularity of Fortnite and ongoing online abuse from 'haters' have led to a drop in his viewership numbers. As of now, Blevins' current viewership numbers are significantly lower, with around 7-8 thousand viewers across Twitch and YouTube.

Despite the challenges, Blevins continues to love gaming and entertaining, and has a strong community that stays with him. In an interview with the BBC, Blevins spoke about the charity stream, encouraging everyone to get their own moles checked. He revealed that medics discovered two cancerous moles on his skin last year, which were removed by Dr. Dhaval Bhanusali.

Blevins has also announced that he plans to make a large personal donation to the charity. He attributes his involvement in the charity stream to his personal experience and the importance of raising awareness about skin cancer. The stream also serves as a platform for Blevins to give back to the community that has supported him throughout his streaming career.

Rich Stanton, a games journalist with 15 years of experience, has worked for various outlets including Edge magazine, Ars Technica, Eurogamer, GamesRadar+, Gamespot, the Guardian, IGN, the New Statesman, Polygon, and Vice. He is the author of "A Brief History of Video Games". Stanton has interviewed Blevins for the charity stream, highlighting the importance of the event and Blevins' commitment to the cause.

The charity stream is a testament to Blevins' resilience and his commitment to using his platform for good. Despite the challenges he faces, Blevins continues to inspire and entertain, and his charity stream is a reminder of the power of gaming communities to come together for a good cause.
