The Chinese automaker Guangzhou Auto Corporation (GAC) has recently unveiled two new electric vehicles (EV), the Aion V Plus and the Aion UT, in various Asian markets.
The Aion V Plus, a facelifted and updated variant of the Aion V, comes in three versions: Plus 70, Plus 80, and Plus 90. The base model, Plus 70, is priced at 172,600 yuan, while the top model, Plus 90, retails at 239,600 yuan.
Meanwhile, the Aion UT EV hatchback, which was exposed by a regulator a week before its Guangzhou debut, is optimised for city driving. It features a front-mounted electric motor offering either 100 kW (134 hp) for the Standard variant or 150 kW (201 hp) for the Premium variant. The Premium model accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. Battery options include 44 kWh for the Standard model and up to 60 kWh for the Premium, enabling driving ranges of about 400 km and 500 km per charge, respectively.
The Aion V Plus is equipped with GAC's new super charging technology, called "AESafe". It can charge up to 200 kilometers of range in five minutes with the new A480 supercharger.
Both vehicles share a sleek and modern design. The Aion V Plus boasts a "Star Wars Warhead Front Face" and a side profile featuring a floating roof over the D-pillar and black rear-door handles that morph into the rear light units. The interior of the Aion V Plus features a separate floating screen setup, with the main touch screen measuring 15.6 inches. All air conditioning and other functions in the Aion V Plus are controlled via the screen itself, unlike the V model.
Key interior and technology features in the Aion UT include an 8.8-inch instrument cluster plus a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera system, voice command, ADiGO 6-speaker audio system, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, panoramic roof, soft-touch interior materials, and ventilated electrically adjustable seats. Safety and driver assistance in the top-tier "420 Intelligence Premium Edition" cover V-shaped side curtain airbags, 540-degree panoramic cameras, and Level 2 driver assistance features.
The Aion UT opened for pre-orders in Indonesia on June 27, 2025, followed by its launch at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show on July 23, 2025. It was also launched in Thailand on June 24, 2025, with both markets offering the two battery variants. There is anticipation of a UK market launch in early 2026, but exact pre-sale dates for that are not yet confirmed.
