iOS 17's 'Duplicates' Feature Helps Users Tidy Photo Library
Apple's iOS 17 introduces a handy new feature called 'Duplicates', which uses on-device AI to identify and group together similar images. This feature, first introduced in 2022, helps users manage their image library more efficiently.
To access the 'Duplicates' folder, users need to open the Photos app and scroll down to the 'Utilities' section. Tapping 'Duplicates' reveals a collection of identical and near-identical images, automatically gathered by the app since iOS 16. The 'Duplicate detection' feature, now integrated into the iOS operating system, makes this process seamless.
Users can choose to delete duplicate images individually or all at once using the 'Merge' function. When images are merged, the best version remains in the library, while duplicates are moved to the 'Recently Deleted' album, ensuring no important images are lost.
With the 'Duplicates' feature in iOS 17, Apple continues to enhance the Photos app's functionality. This update helps users keep their image library organized and clutter-free, making it easier to find and enjoy their favorite moments.
