Kazakhstan's First Wind Farm, Mirny, Set for 2026

Envision Energy is set to build Kazakhstan's first renewable energy project, the Mirny wind farm. The 1 GW wind farm, planned for late 2026, will be a significant step towards the nation's 2030 and 2060 renewable energy and carbon neutral goals.

The Mirny wind farm, a joint venture between Aktos Energy, Samruk-Energo JSC, Kaz Munay Gas, and TotalEnergies, will feature 124 of Envision Energy's 6.5 MW turbines. This will result in a 1 GW capacity, capable of generating over 4 TWh of clean electricity annually, enough to power more than a million households.

The project is part of Kazakhstan's ambitious plan to have renewables account for 15% of its energy mix by 2030. The country also aims for a carbon neutral economy by 2060. The Mirny wind farm, due to start construction in late 2026, will be a key milestone in achieving these targets. The first equipment is expected on site by the end of the same year.

Envision Energy's Mirny wind farm, the first of its kind in Kazakhstan, is poised to make a substantial impact on the nation's energy landscape. With a 1 GW capacity and a 300 MW/600 MWh battery energy storage system, it will significantly boost the country's renewable energy production and contribute to its carbon neutral goals.
