Kimber Unveils R7 Mako: Lightweight, 14-Round 9mm Shark-Inspired Carry Gun
Kimber has unveiled the R7 Mako, a lightweight, 14-round 9 mm carry gun that weighs just 19 ounces and boasts an aggressive, shark-inspired design. Available in two optic versions, the R7 Mako is priced around $600.
The R7 Mako stands out with its unique appearance, featuring sharp lines and a textured grip reminiscent of sharkskin. It's a mere 1 inch thick and conceals well, making it an ideal everyday carry. Under the hood, the R7 Mako loves premium ammo, delivering impressive 0.90-inch groups at 10 yards with a red-dot optic. Kimber has beefed up the ejector and uses machined steel rails for the slide, ensuring durability. The ejection port is open only on the right, keeping gases and brass away from the optic. For sighting, Kimber has installed TruGlo tritium tall sights that can be used even if the optic's batteries fail. The trigger is one of the best factory striker-fired triggers, averaging 4.5 pounds with minimal creep. The aggressive 360-degree grip stippling and ultra-thin beavertail make it easy to control. Kimber plans to release a micro-compact version of this gun in the future.
The Kimber R7 Mako is a striking, lightweight carry gun that combines unique design with impressive performance. Its ability to handle premium ammo and its durable construction make it a strong contender in the carry gun market. With a planned micro-compact version, Kimber is set to expand its offerings in the 9 mm carry gun segment.
