KTM previews the upcoming release of the 160 Duke in India, expected to hit the market in August.

The much-anticipated KTM 160 Duke is set to make its debut, promising a powerful and feature-rich entry-level motorcycle exclusive to the Indian market. This new model is expected to be based on the second-generation KTM 200 Duke platform, sharing many of its features, including a trellis frame and rear monoshock suspension.

The heart of the KTM 160 Duke is a 164.2cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, BS6-compliant engine that is expected to produce approximately 19 bhp and 15 Nm of peak torque. The bike is estimated to weigh around 147 kg, with a 10.1-liter fuel tank and a seat height of 815 mm.

Premium features such as a fully digital instrument console, LED lighting, dual-channel ABS, and USD front forks are anticipated to come as standard. The KTM 160 Duke is expected to be priced around ₹1.85 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as the successor to the discontinued 125 Duke.

In the competitive 160cc segment, the KTM 160 Duke is expected to challenge the likes of the Yamaha MT-15, Honda X-Blade, Bajaj Pulsar NS160, and Suzuki Gixxer SF 160. However, the upcoming KTM RC 160, expected to launch shortly after the Duke 160, will compete against more sporty models like the Yamaha R15.

The KTM 160 Duke's main competitor, the Yamaha MT-15, boasts a slightly lower power output (~16.9 PS) compared to the KTM 160 Duke’s estimated 19-20 PS. Despite this, the MT-15 remains a key benchmark in this segment.

The KTM 160 Duke is poised to offer a refined, more powerful alternative to the MT-15 and other entry-level sports bikes, with KTM’s signature aggressive styling and race-inspired chassis and suspension setup aimed at enthusiasts seeking a premium 160cc streetfighter.

Additional features of the KTM 160 Duke include all-LED lighting, a 6-speed gearbox, and a TFT digital console with Bluetooth connectivity. The underpinnings of the KTM 160 Duke will be similar to those of the KTM 200 Duke.

Looking ahead, the KTM RC 125 (2025) is expected to cost ₹ 2 Lakhs, while the KTM 125 Duke (2025) is estimated to cost between ₹ 1.75 - 1.80 Lakhs. The 2025 Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 has already been launched with new features, with prices starting at ₹1.70 lakh. The KTM 450 SX-F, on the other hand, features a 449.9 cc engine and a fuel efficiency of 15.33 kmpl.

In conclusion, the KTM 160 Duke promises to be a formidable contender in the Indian market, offering a blend of power, style, and features that are sure to appeal to performance-oriented riders. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new model.
